If you're ready to begin your journey, attending an ICANN public meeting as a NextGen@ICANN participant could be the starting point! Through the NextGen program, ICANN offers training and travel assistance to students from the regions where the ICANN meeting will be held.

Cost
- Each individual receives a grant that covers the cost of economy class airfare, hotel, and a stipend.
- NextGen participants are required to secure their own visas to travel at their own expense. If an applicant wishes to obtain travel or health insurance, this will be at their own expense.
Eligibility
Participants in the NextGen@ICANN program must be:
- Enrolled as an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student.
- Between 18 and 30 years old at the time of the ICANN meeting.
- Currently living and studying in the region of the respective ICANN meeting. ICANN meetings rotate through five geographic regions: Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific.
- Interested in Internet governance, the future of the Internet, and other topics discussed at ICANN meetings.
- If selected, the participant must be able to attend the ICANN meeting and related events. NextGen participants are expected to actively participate in the meeting.
- If selected, the participant must be willing to present a 5-10 minute project at the meeting. The presentation may cover topics such as: research you are working on or have completed, an activity related to ICANN work, an ICANN-related website you are affiliated with, a thesis project, etc.

Candidates are assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
- The candidate demonstrates interest in ICANN and the Internet ecosystem through examples of current work, activities, and public dialogue through their studies and/or web research.
- The applicant expresses how participation in the NextGen@ICANN program would be valuable to him or her as an individual and as part of a larger community (e.g., university, country, region).
- The quality of the candidate's ability to express their opinion on an internet topic in their application.
- The candidate demonstrates a desire to be part of the ICANN community.
- The candidate demonstrates a long-standing interest in topics related to ICANN's work.
- The candidate expresses a desire to become involved and improve their understanding of ICANN's work in their region.

By registering, candidates agree to participate in the ICANN meeting with the NextGen@ICANN group, as well as all necessary events.
