Deadline: February 21, 2024

Registration is now open for the Dart Center Ochberg Fellowship 2024 The Dart Center Ochberg Fellowship is a unique seminar program for senior and mid-career journalists who wish to deepen their understanding of emotional trauma and psychological injury and improve their reporting on violence, conflict, and tragedy.

Reporting responsibly and credibly on traumatic events—street crime and domestic violence, catastrophes and natural disasters, wars and genocides, pandemics and social upheavals—is a major challenge. Since 1999, the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma, a project of Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, has brought together leading journalists from around the world to explore critical issues surrounding news coverage of violence, trauma, and tragedy.

  • To demonstrate consistent and thoughtful journalistic engagement with issues of violence, conflict, tragedy and their consequences;
  • They demonstrated journalistic excellence and leadership throughout their journalistic careers;
  • You will likely benefit personally and professionally from the fellowship experience and contribute significantly to the program and the fellowship group.

Other considerations may include geographic and other diversity, and the overall composition of the group.
