Nominations are now open for the Esserman-Knight Journalism Awards 2024 The Esserman-Knight Journalism Award seeks to celebrate and encourage outstanding investigative and public service reporting in South Florida and to foster a community that cares deeply about local news.
Submissions should serve the public by holding the powerful accountable, illuminating a widespread or underreported community problem, or opening new avenues on an issue. Work will be judged on the quality of analysis and narrative, the rigor of news gathering, the inclusion of community voices, and the impact on public understanding or action.

- Awards are given by nomination only. Self-nominations are not accepted.
- Anyone living anywhere can nominate an article or a series of related articles (up to three) on a single topic for the tribute.
- Journalists or teams of journalists who published or broadcast stories in 2023 that include original reporting from Miami-Dade, Broward, or Monroe counties are eligible.
- They encourage nominations from all media. Print, online, television, podcasts, radio, video, audio, and data visualization work – whether independent or combined – are eligible.
Appointment
Nominations are open from January 12 to February 12, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Winners will be notified in April, with a public announcement and awards ceremony to follow.
