The IAS Media Fellowship Programme is open to journalists/media specialists/
online content creators, who are at least 18 years old at the time of the conference and belong to one of the
three categories below:

Category 1:
Journalists, photographers and cameramen who are employed by or working for
a recognised media outlet, whether print, radio, broadcast or online, medical, community or
sponsored by an HIV service organisation.
Category 2:
Public-facing communication professionals linked to a recognised non-profit research organisation,
advocacy or policy on HIV and whose work is directly related to supporting the
media coverage of the presentations at AIDS 2024. These applications will be analysed on a case-by-case basis.
and may not exceed three entries per organisation. The organisation may not
submit more applications after three applications have been submitted and approved.
Category 3:
Social media influencers who make a significant contribution to the HIV and/or AIDS field
public health in general or that have strong links with key populations and have more than 50,000 followers
on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok or YouTube.

VALUE

Recipients of the IAS Media Scholarship will receive (based on the needs requested in the application):

  • Registration for face-to-face and virtual attendance (access to all sessions at the conference venue, as well as access to the virtual platform)
  • Travel support (pre-paid return economy class ticket from the nearest international airport to your country of residence) for the dates of the conference and pre-conferences
  • Accommodation (single room in a budget hotel) during the conference and pre-meetings
  • Daily subsistence allowance during the conference and pre-conferences.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Media fellows must agree to be in Munich and attend for the entire duration of AIDS 2024
    and pre-meetings from 20 to 26 July inclusive, and attend and participate in all the
    activities of the media grants programme.
  • Media fellows are responsible for obtaining a visa to enter Germany, as well as for
    any additional travel visas, if necessary. If the applicant is denied a travel visa, the
    media exchange will be changed to virtual attendance.
