Meta-researchers present Audiobox, a new basic audio generator model with improved controllability that help Audiobox makes it easier for users to create their desired voices and sound effects. It can generate speech, voices, and sound effects using a combination of voice and natural language text input – facilitating the creation of customized audio for a wide variety of use cases.

Audiobox represents a major step towards democratizing audio generation resources. Audio plays a fundamental role in many forms of... media From films to podcasts, audiobooks, and video games. In the future, they believe that advances in research like these will reduce the accessibility barrier to audio creation and make it easier for anyone to become an audio content creator.

At Meta, they care deeply about conducting audio and speech research responsibly and have implemented new technologies for this purpose. They also believe that audio and speech research issues cannot be addressed by just one individual or a single organization. In particular, they value a diverse set of partners to address the responsible AI aspects of this work. They are launching a call for proposals from two groups:

  • Researchers who wish to conduct responsible AI research and advance areas such as security, justice, ethics, and identity spoofing/deepfake detection, and enable a future where speech and audio models can be used responsibly and safely.
  • Researchers who want to improve generation performance voice and state-of-the-art audio leveraging AudioBox models.
Information on financing
  • Through this grant, the FAIR (Fundamental AI Research) team at Meta will provide:
    • Access to Audiobox models and relevant code artifacts for research groups in academic institutions and research laboratories.
    • Funding up to US$50,000 to continue their work.
Election criteria
  • This Grant Program is open to organizations located in countries where local legislation does not prohibit their participation in or receipt of grants. prize Individuals and/or organizations that are
    • subject to any trade sanctions or export control restrictions administered or enforced by the U.S., EU, United Nations or United Kingdom;
    • to act on behalf of any other person who is the target of such trade sanctions or export control restrictions; or
    • organized or located in the U.S. states of Illinois or Texas, Belarus , China , Russia , Ukraine or any country or region that is subject to sanctions economic or comprehensive financial (for example, the Crimean, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, Cuba , North Korea , Iran e Syria (As the list may be subject to change) are not eligible to participate.
  • Eligible organizations must be one of the following:
    • A nonprofit organization: The nonprofit organization must operate exclusively for “charitable purposes,” as defined by U.S. law, and be organized as a 501(c)3 entity (in the U.S.) or local equivalent, indicating the government designation that the organization is a nonprofit entity; Organizations claiming nonprofit status must be able to provide valid proof of their tax-exempt status.
    • An academic institution: An academic institution is defined as an accredited institution (colleges, universities, or other educational institutions) of higher education that grants degrees; it may be public, private, or non-profit.
    • A research institution: A research institution is defined as an establishment outside of teaching A higher education institution founded to conduct research that may be public, private, or non-profit.
Requirements
  • The proposal must meet all of the following requirements.
    • The proposal must be written in English.
      The proposal must not have been previously licensed, sold, used, published, released, displayed, distributed, or otherwise commercially exploited in any way.
    • The proposal should only include content about individuals or entities for which the Organization has all necessary permissions and rights, including, if applicable, permission from any parent or legal guardian of the minor mentioned or depicted.
    • The proposal must not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any third-party rights, including, without limitation, copyright (including moral rights), trademark, trade secret, patent, or rights of privacy or publicity. To the extent that the Proposal includes any third-party content, the Organization must have all rights, licenses, and permissions to use the third-party content in accordance with the Grant Terms and must provide proof of such third-party rights, licenses, and permissions upon request from the grantor.
    • The proposal must comply with all applicable federal, national, provincial, state, territorial, and local laws, rules, or regulations related to participation in the Grant Program.
