The Millennium Fellowship, a collaborative initiative of United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the Millennium Campus Network (MCN), invites you to join the Class of 2024. This one-semester leadership development programme is designed to bring together, challenge and celebrate bold student leadership that promotes UN goals both on campus and in communities.

About the Partners:

United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI)

UNAI is a programme that promotes collaboration between higher education institutions and the United Nations to advance UN objectives. This includes missions such as defending human rights, promoting access to education, defending sustainability and contributing to conflict resolution.

Millennium Campus Network (MCN)

MCN is a global student network committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. By partnering with UNAI, MCN aims to elevate the Millennium Scholarship, with a focus on undergraduate leadership for the Sustainable Development Goals and UNAI Principals.

Three Stages of the Millennium Scholarship:

1. Summon:

  • The Millennium Scholars meet at least eight times between August and November on their respective campuses.
  • Learn with the MCN Action Toolkit: an adaptive curriculum designed to reflect on core values, enhance skills and take informed action towards the UN goals.
  • Apply the curriculum to a real-time project as a leader: manage your project to improve your leadership.

2. Develop:

  • Develop a plan for your sessions together.
  • Exchange best practices through peer-to-peer feedback to support your colleagues' projects and your own.
  • Take collective action by organising a campus-wide sustainability initiative or more.

3. Postgraduate studies:

  • Be an active Millennium Scholar and complete your project that fulfils the Fellowship's graduation requirements.
  • Earn a certificate of recognition from the United Nations Academic Impact and Millennium Campus Network.

How to enrol:

  1. Send us your project: Make sure that your Millennium Grant Project fulfils the following requirements:
    • Make a significant and measurable impact during the Fellowship.
    • Include at least one Sustainable Development Goal and one UNAI principle.
  2. Examples of projects:
    • Lead your campus organisation (e.g. AIESEC, ENACTUS, UNICEF) that promotes the UN goals.
    • Student journalism: Writing a series on the Sustainable Development Goals for your campus newspaper.
    • Managing a social enterprise.
    • Conduct innovative research that concretely promotes the UN's goals.
    • Proposing a collective action project: a campus-wide and/or community initiative that promotes the UN goals.

  4. Undergraduate leaders should apply as soon as possible (the deadline is 2nd priority is 28 February and the deadline is 16 April).
