Financing opportunities:

  • The department offers up to 5 years of competitive funding through Graduate Assistantships for PhD students. For detailed information, prospective students are encouraged to visit the Financial Aid website.
  • When should I apply for financial aid?You must apply for financial aid after completing your application for the childhood studies programme. Financial aid applications can be submitted online at https://studentaid.rutgers.edu/ Submit applications for financial aid by 15 March if you are applying for autumn admission.

Department initiatives:

In spring 2023, the Department secured a four-year Mellon Foundation-funded grant, "Rethinking Race and Justice through Childhood Studies". This grant facilitates ongoing initiatives such as the Speaker Series Centring Black Childhoods and the upcoming June 2024 conference, "Visions of Racial Justice and Childhood".

The diverse faculty, spanning multiple disciplines, actively contribute to the dynamic field of childhood studies through research, public engagement and teaching.
