KidsRights works with children to create a world in which their rights are guaranteed and they can fulfil their great potential. KidsRights is convinced that the realisation of children's rights cannot be achieved without the perspective, experience and authority of the children themselves.

KidsRights annually awards the prestigious International Children's Peace Prize to a child who courageously fights for children's rights.

    • The "Nkosi" statue depicting a child who sets the world in motion
    • O "Desmond Tutu study and care fund" to enable the child to obtain a education
    • A €100,000 project fund, which is invested by KidsRights in relevant child rights projects that are closely linked to the winner's area of work
  • What's more, winning the International Children's Peace Prize gives the winner a global platform to promote their work. For example, this year the winners' message reached 3.1 billion people worldwide!
Eligibility Criteria
  • The appointment requirements are as follows:
    • Anyone over the age of 18 or an organisation can nominate a child
    • The child must be between 12 and 17 years old by the nomination deadline
    • The child can be from any country in the world
    • The child must have a demonstrable record of standing up and fighting for the rights of children, including themselves
    • The child needs to be able to travelling abroad and feel comfortable communicating with other people. In fact, if they are chosen as the winner, they will need to travel to the ceremony and be able to communicate their message to different stakeholders
    • The child agrees to be nominated for the International Children's Peace Prize
