Applications are now open for the AfricaRe Young Insurance Professionals Programme 2024 . The Young Insurance Professionals Programme (YIPP) is a FREE online training academically developed by the London School of Insurance in conjunction with Africa Re to fulfil its mission of promoting the development of the insurance and reinsurance industry in Africa.

The aim of this annual FREE online training programme is to offer bright professionals the possibility of accelerated career development, thus contributing to the progress of the African insurance and reinsurance sector.

Programme details

The insurance programme is a starting point for an exciting career in the industry. Successful applicants to the Young Professionals Programme will undergo an annual training programme with a built-in "extension/learning task", where valuable practical experience will be gained. A career will be built by the YIPP trainee, acquiring knowledge and skills through a unique combination of on-the-job experience and a dedicated online training programme in insurance, reinsurance, leadership and management modules.

At the end of this programme, it is expected that participants will have been positively impacted to understand the reinsurance industry and its future missions with regard to strong leadership, governance and accountability. Participants will be able to reduce some poor practices and approaches by developing a constructive approach to competition in African reinsurance markets and improve professionalism.

  • Africa Re will sponsor the ten best young professionals who successfully complete the YIPP programme at one of the main insurance/reinsurance events in Africa (AIO, FANAF, OESAI, GAIF, FAIR, etc).

Eligibility

  • The candidate must be a citizen of a member state of Africa Re;
  • Maximum of 35 years;
  • Degree or equivalent;
  • Relevant professional experience in an insurance or reinsurance company, insurance broker or other related area;
  • Internet access;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and/or French.

Interested candidates must submit an online application between 1 October 2023 and 14 January 2024.

Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Applicants should send their curriculum vitae, cover letter and reference forms. If deemed necessary, an interview may form part of the assessment process.
