DESCRIPTION
The Korean government is inviting 60 international students from 72 countries who want to study for a bachelor's degree (engineering or natural sciences) and also 35 international students from 17 countries who want to study for an associate's degree in Korea. To be selected as a GKS scholar, any candidate must successfully pass the 1st selection process defined by the designated universities.
And the wait is over. The Korean government and NIIED are accepting applications for the Global Korea Scholarship, i.e. GKS Scholarship 2023 for degree programmes. If you're a fan of Kpop, Kdrama or Kmovies, here's your chance to study in Korea for free.

What is the GKS Scholarship?
The aim of the Global Korea Scholarship is to give international students the chance to pursue academic degrees at higher education facilities in Korea. This will increase international educational exchange and strengthen ties between Korea and participating nations.
INFORMATION ON SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship period
- Bachelor's programme: 3~4 years
- 1 year training in Korean + 4 ~ 6 years programme
graduation Associate Degree Programme: 3 ~ 4 years - 1 year Korean language training + 2 ~ 3 year programme
Important notes about the scholarship period - Applicants who have submitted TOPIK level 5 or 6 will be exempt from a Korean language programme in the following semester (September 2023)

This year, 200 students from all over the world will be invited under the GKS Scholarship 2023 for the Associate Degree and Bachelor's Degree programmes.

Of the 200 students, 81 will be selected via the Embassy Trail e 119 students will be chosen via the University Track.

- Academic programmes offered in the evening, short-term programmes, online and distance learning programmes are not applicable to this scholarship programme.
- Applicants can only apply to the universities and departments that are listed in the "University Information" file attached to the GKS Notice post on the website

Programme quota
1- Embassy Trail:
This year, 81 students from all over the world will be selected via Embassy Track.

2- University Trail
In total, 119 students will be chosen through the University Track, but these numbers are divided into 3 programmes.
- University-Industry Cooperation Programme (UIC): 55 scholarship holders
- Regional Universities and Associate Degree Programme: 64 scholarship holders

The UIC Programme is open to all countries around the world

Regional Universities and Associate Degrees: 64 scholarship holders

Eligibility
- Nationality
All applicants must have citizenship of the countries designated by NIIED that are invited to participate in the GKS programme
2. Education
- The bachelor's degree programme is for candidates who have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from a secondary school or an associate degree programme
- Associate degree programme is for candidates who have graduated (or are due to graduate) from a secondary school
Note:
? Candidates who are due to graduate must first present an expected graduation certificate at the time of enrolment. If these candidates pass the final selection round, they must present
a graduation certificate (or a graduation certificate) by 28 February 2023
3- GPA
The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of the entire curriculum of the previous course (degree) must meet one of the two conditions below;
- The score percentile must be equal to or higher than 80% on a 100-point scale or be ranked among the top 20% within the class
- CGPA must be equal to or greater than 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5 or 3.23/5,0
4- Age
Must be under 25 years of age (born after 1st March 1998)
5- Health
All applicants must be in good health, both mentally and physically, to study in Korea for the duration of the programme

- Application period: Each embassy and university has its own application deadline, so applicants should check with the respective institute before submitting their application.
- Submission method: Each embassy and university holding the first round of selection may have its own guidelines for submitting documents, so applicants should check with the respective institute before submitting their application.

? Applicants can choose up to THREE universities
different? Candidates cannot choose three different departments from a single university
? Of the universities chosen, at least one must be a university of universities
type B? If candidates complete a type A university in a type B section, their application may be excluded from the assessment.
[University Track]
Applicants for the university track must fill in ONE university in their application
Additional points:
- Candidates who have a TOPIK level 3 or higher will receive additional points (10% of the total points awarded)
- Direct descendants of Korean War veterans who participated in the Korean War as foreign military personnel will receive additional points (5% of the total points allocated)
