Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is a prestigious two-week academic summer programme known for its global diversity and commitment to providing over US$ 3 million in need-based financial aid to students around the world. With a rich history of hosting over 2,000 students from 150+ countries and all 50 US states, YYGS stands out as one of the most culturally inclusive summer programmes in the world.
The YYGS curriculum is uniquely collaborative, immersing participants in innovative subjects while promoting discussions shaped by international points of view. Students can choose from several tracks such as STEM, social sciences, humanities or transdisciplinary fields.

How to register
Step 1: Review the YYGS eligibility criteria. Step 2: Familiarise yourself with the necessary components. Step 3: Prepare your answers to application questions. Step 4: Collect contact information from a parent/guardian, teacher and/or school employee.
Fill in the Application Form: Step 5: Start your enrolment YYGS here. Don't forget to save your login details. Step 6: Review your application to ensure that all components are complete. Step 7: Submit your application by clicking on the "Submit Application" button. Step 8: Pay the registration fee of US$ 70 for Early Action or US$ 85 for Regular Decision. All fees are non-refundable. Step 9: Check your inbox for a confirmation receipt within 24 to 48 hours of sending.

Early Action:

- Acceptance deadline: 4th January 2024
Ordinary Decision:
- Application deadline: 10 January 2024
- Release of decision: until 10 March 2024
- Acceptance deadline: 15th March 2024
YYGS ensures that need-based financial aid is available to qualified candidates who apply during any period of the applicant pool.
Eligibility
To apply for the YYGS, you must fulfil the following requirements:
- Age: 16-18 by 21 July 2024.
- Fluency in English: Able to participate in classes taught in English.
- Level of education: High school or primary school.
- Graduation date: Graduate in May/June 2025 or 2026 (Northern Hemisphere) or November/December 2024 or 2025 (Southern Hemisphere).
- YYGS participation: First-time YYGS participants.
YYGS accepts applications from all countries and provides need-based financial aid to all eligible students.
Required application components
- List of activities
- A 400-word essay and a 200-word answer
- Two "fast take" answers (280 characters each)
- Official school transcripts
- A recommender (using the YYGS Recommendation Form)
- Registration fee
- Optional: English fluency test scores (TOEFL or DuoLingo)
- Optional: Application for need-based financial aid
Fee waiver
YYGS may waive the enrolment fee for students with significant financial need. Students can apply for a fee waiver using the Fee Waiver Application Form.
Tuition Fees and Aid
Tuition fees: $6,500 USD (covers on-campus components, excluding travel)
Payment deadlines:
- Early action: 4 January 2024
- Ordinary decision: 15 March 2024
Need-based financial aid: Need-based financial aid is available to both national and international students.
