Applications are now open for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme 2023/2024 at Carnegie Mellon University Africa . The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Programme was established at CMU-Africa in 2016. The programme offers generous financial, social and academic support to students whose talent and promise exceed their financial resources.
With the vision that education is a catalyst for social and economic change, the programme focuses on developing leaders who are changemakers, encouraging them to be active contributors in their communities. CMU-Africa is part of a global network of 33 Scholars Programme partners, made up of institutions committed to the development of young African leaders.
Scholarships
The programme focuses on:
- Holistic support: The scholarship covers support in preparing applications, mentoring, tuition and fees, health insurance, travel and basic living expenses, project support and entrepreneurship. Scholars also have access to a variety of resources that support their well-being and academic success.
- Career preparation: Scholars benefit from personalised activities to prepare them for the workplace. Throughout their studies, they take part in professional development activities including, among others, internship and career fairs, networking opportunities with industry leaders and individual career coaching that prepares them to pursue their goals after graduation.
- Leadership development: Scholars develop leadership skills through participation in student clubs, community service and a variety of programmes that prepare students to become agents of change. During their time at CMU-Africa, scholars participate in a series of leadership training sessions tailored to their needs to ensure that they are equipped with cutting-edge leadership skills that will enable them to lead with distinction.
