The African Masters of Machine Intelligence (AMMI) will prepare well-rounded Machine Intelligence (MI) researchers, focussing on basic research in MI as well as the development of a wide range of applications that respond to the present and future needs of Africa and the world.
AMMI graduates will go on to create and/or join the best industrial and public research and development laboratories in Africa and beyond, thus strengthening the African IM community and the scientific community in general, achieving crucial advances for the global good.
Eligibility
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent recognised by an accredited institution;
- A satisfactory school average is required, usually a minimum average of B (or 80%) or better;
- Interest and/or experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning etc. demonstrated in courses taken and projects carried out;
- Consent to mentor an undergraduate student at their previous institution while enrolled at AMMI; Consent to mentor an AMMI student after graduation;
- Strong interest in solving national or continental problems using science and technology.

Application
Note: Your original diplomas, degrees, academic certificates and transcripts must be in your possession upon arrival on campus. The following materials must be ready for application:
- Transcript records required: Upload your official transcripts with your application. These include transcripts from all higher education institutions attended, including summer sessions and extension programmes. All academic records not originally in English or French must be issued in their original language and accompanied by sworn English translations.
- References: At least three references are required. Be sure to inform your recommenders that they will be contacted to provide a letter of recommendation on your behalf. Your recommenders are invited to give their personal impressions of your intellectual capacity, your aptitude in research or professional skills, your character and the quality of your previous work.
- Personal statement: The personal statement should tell us about you, your academic achievements, aspirations and other important accomplishments (e.g. projects, online courses, awards, etc.) related to AI and Machine Learning. It should also paint a picture of your academic aspirations, including post-master's degrees (maximum 500 words).
- Background summary: You can choose to send a 90-second video. This doesn't have to be a professionally made video, but they do recommend that the sound and lighting are clear.
