Mophradat has launched its Grants for Artists' Practice programme, which has two components: providing artists with flexible financial support that can be used for their own work. subsistence, periods of researchThis includes a structured dialogue between the participating artists and each other, as well as an individual dialogue with their peers (from the advisory committee).

To develop a practice artistic - a continuous production process based on conceptual and formal research - artists need time, stimulating inputs, access to technical skills, conversations with colleagues and exchanges with the public.

The programme is open only to those interested in an ongoing conversation with the professional colleagues that Mophradat is engaging for this purpose and to those committed to participating in all the conversations scheduled during the execution programme.

Information on financing
  • Each year, the programme offers grants of US$ 4,000 or US$ 8,000 to approximately eight artists, who also take part in six conversations organised by Mophradat. The talks take place once a month during the first six months of the programme. concession as follows: three individual conversations with colleagues and three sessions in which participants share about their personal project or practice, in conversation with the rest of the group and following this timeline.
Specific eligibility criteria
  • This programme is designed for artists or collectives from and in the Arab world who relate to this part of the world as "home".
  • In addition to meeting the general eligibility criteria that you can read about here, please note the following:
    • Artists must be able to demonstrate their involvement with a specific project they are developing.
    • The artists' working methodology must be compatible with a progressive and inclusive approach to the work.
    • Artists must have previously completed works of art and be involved in an art scene.
    • Institutions are not eligible to apply, but artists can apply to develop, collaborate or present a project to an institution.
    • The proposal must have a clear result, be it practical, intellectual or philosophical.
    • The proposal must be feasible within twelve months of the deadline for submitting the grant.
    • The programme does not cover feature film production and post-production projects, LP production, degree-based study programmes (such as master's degrees or doctorates), or literary projects, which are notably eligible for the Writing Sabbaticals programme;
    • In the interests of balanced professional relationships, Mophradat does not support applications to cover the costs and fees of artists invited to direct a workshop, manage or curate projects in Europe or North America that fall into the categories of employment (temporary) in these contexts, and which must be covered by the institutional budgets of these hosts.
