O Youth Climate Justice Fund is seeking applications to support young climate justice leaders with funding, resources and capacity building from young people for young people, enabling them to amplify their voices and keep their vision and influence alive.

The Youth Climate Justice Fund works to strengthen existing organising efforts and support emerging youth movements with a focus on bridging the gap between funders and organisers to enable flexible and impactful support. Through youth capacity building and resource sharing, they empower and support young people to drive change and build a just and sustainable future.

Information on financing
  • Groups can apply for a grant of up to US$ 10,000, which can be used for a period of 12 months.
Eligibility Criteria
  • You should consider signing up if your group, network or collective is:
    • led by young people aged 35 or under. To be eligible for a YCJF grant, the majority of your organisation's members need to be young people under the age of 35 and the leadership or individuals with decision-making power must be young people aged 35 or under;
    • based in Africa; the Middle East; Asia and the Pacific; America Latin America and the CaribbeanCentral and Eastern Europe;
    • based in North America or Western Europe, but is led by young people who are discriminated against and/or marginalised on the basis of class, ethnicity, origin, etc;
    • non-partisan, non-violent and legal; and
    • Believe in and showcase inclusive organising, collective action and building intersectional movements.
  • They are specifically looking for groups that are:
    • Cultivate diverse leadership rooted in fair and equitable climate action with the power of the community.
    • Raising ambitions and commitments on climate and socio-environmental justice.
    • Hold policymakers accountable for their promises and strengthen community power.
Process
  • The participatory grant from the Climate Justice Fund for Youth.
    • Youth Climate Justice Fund opens call for proposals
      • The call is open for 4 weeks, youth climate justice groups around the world can apply. Non-English speaking groups are welcome to contact Regional Leads for support in applying in their own language.
    • Applications are analysed by the YCJF team
      • Check that the groups meet the basic eligibility criteria and are aligned with the values and principles of the YCJF.
    • Review of regional leads
      • Review of proposals by regional priorities and contact with groups to better understand their needs.
    • Voting on the Steering Committee
      • Each member of the steering committee categorises the groups based on the YCJF's principles, values and key funding priorities.
    • Due diligence process
      • The YCJF team and Regional Leaders contact the selected groups and support them in receiving the funding.
    • Scholarships are awarded!
      • The YCJF team and Regional Leaders work with partners to speed up the process for groups to receive funding.
    • Join the YCJF community
      • Groups are invited to join YCJF's welcome call and co-develop capacity-building resources among young people.
