Applications are now open for the Climate Leadership Fellowship 2023 The Climate Leadership Fellowship (special edition for energy leaders) is designed to provide specialized training fellows who are involved in, or passionate about and willing to make a difference in, clean cooking, clean energy, solar energy, waste-to-energy sectors in concept and renewable energy applications for a better climate.

Following the training, all fellows will adopt a school where they will teach about climate change and renewable energy, helping to shape young people who will promote a climate-resilient nation. All fellows will receive a climate education toolkit for teaching in schools and a climate leadership certificate.

Program Outline

  • This program includes three weeks of intensive expert training on climate change for all selected fellows.
  • Each weekly course block includes a specialized live lesson.
  • All fellows who complete the intensive training will study the visual education toolkit and teach how to use it.
  • Next, the fellows will adopt a school where they will teach about climate change.
  • The fellows will teach about climate change using the toolkit in selected schools over a period of four weeks.
  • The fellows will implement a climate data policy in the schools and communities where they will work, and on social media.
  • The fellows create climate change leadership clubs in the schools where they will be working.
  • Fellows are encouraged to demonstrate innovation in the school community where they will work by undertaking a small climate change project to bring home their learning, including the implementation of climate data policy.
  • The top 5 scholarship recipients will win the Climate Champion Award.

Participants are expected to:

  • Commit 5 hours per week to specialized training and LIVE calls.
  • Adopt a school and complete the four-week program teaching about climate change in schools.
  • Demonstrate innovation during the Adopt a School program.

Eligibility

  • Open to young people aged 22 to 35;
  • Demonstrated leadership in climate change and renewable energy;
  • Part of a growing environmental/renewable energy organization or involved/interested in a renewable energy business (Corporate members with an interest in renewable energy may apply);
  • Graduated from the University;
  • Interested in clean/renewable energy solutions for electricity or cooking;
  • Passion for raising awareness about climate change;
  • From anywhere in the world, but residing in Nigeria.

Selected candidates must be available and willing to teach climate change in their communities using the provided toolkit, participate in climate leadership expert training, submit a fellowship work plan, and be available for all virtual meetings.
