The "Rebecca Ballestra" CMCC Climate Change Communication Award aims to showcase and promote the most creative and impactful initiatives:

  • increase public awareness for climate change and its interactions with society, the economy, the environment and the policy-making process;
  • disseminate scientific information and data related to climate change through the application of innovative ideas, technologies and methodologies in the field of media, journalism and communication in general;
  • communicating threats and opportunities posed by the challenge of climate change using multiple languages and innovative media, including journalism, art, visual resources and music;
  • trigger actions in the audiences addressed, including students, consumers, companies and politicians.

VALUE

  • All eligible projects will be included in the global platform of the best climate change communication projects at www.cmccaward.eu.
  • The finalists and the winner of the CMCC "Rebecca Ballestra" Climate Change Communication Award - along with any special mentions the jury may decide to make - will be announced during a high-level event to be held in autumn 2023. The author(s) of the winning project will have the opportunity to present their project and their work at the event and will receive a cash prize of 5,000 euros.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The Award is open to individuals, teams or organisations, regardless of nationality.
  • Eligible submissions must present projects, initiatives and tools that communicate climate change through various forms, such as arts, theatre, video creation, podcasts, music, photography, journalism, games, education, data visualisation, editorial content and the use of digital channels and tools.
