WAN-IFRA Women in News is launching the call for nominations for its 2023 edition of the News Editorial Leadership Award. This award recognises an editor's exemplary contribution to their newsroom and, under their leadership, their newspaper's contribution to society. One exceptional editor from sub-Saharan Africa, one from the Arab region and one from South-East Asia will be named Laureates in 2023. The Laureates will be honoured at the WAN-IFRA World News Media Congress 2023 in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Laureate will have a proven track record of success in their newsroom, has demonstrated uncompromising editorial integrity throughout their career, with a strong commitment to the principles of press freedom and its power to promote democracy and good governance. They have a demonstrated commitment to gender equality, mentoring and elevating their staff members while building an organisational culture that embraces equality. In recent years, 15 exemplary publishers from Africa, the Arab Region and South-East Asia have received the WIN Publishing Leadership Award.

The deadline for submitting applications is 13 February 2023.
Eligible nominees must have a senior editorial role as of 1 January 2023. Media (newspapers, magazines and digital only) of all sizes from Sub-Saharan Africa, the Arab Region and South-East Asia are encouraged to submit a nomination.
