About the Brotherhood
Over the past 30 years, more than 500 individuals have participated in AKFC's International Youth Fellowship Programme. The Fellowship is a launching pad for diverse careers in the government, non-profit, media and financial sectors. It offers a training programme and an eight-month internship abroad to recent university graduates and young professionals under the age of 30.

We are accepting applications for the 2023-24 group until 1 February 2023. Submit your application today to get started. For more information, read or download the international youth scholarship brochure.

The International Youth Fellowship Programme develops the skills of young Canadians and supports the work of AKFC's partner organisations abroad. Participants can apply for one of three streams that best match their background and interests:

International Development Management Fellows (IDM) benefit from placements in various organisations, working in fields such as health, education, rural development, and strengthening civil society. Placements include positions in research, project management, communications, and monitoring and evaluation.

International Microfinance and Microenterprise Fellows (IMM) gain experience with an organisation involved in microfinance or market development, to develop skills in the day-to-day operations and evaluation of these programmes.

Young Media Professionals (YPM) Fellows work as journalists for Nation Media Group, a leading media outlet in East Africa. With reporting opportunities in print, broadcast, and digital media, Fellows acquire the skills necessary to work effectively in today's global media environment.

This prestigious Fellowship is a launch pad for a variety of careers in the government, non-profit, media and financial sectors. In a survey carried out in 2009, 80% of the alumni felt that participating in the programme helped shape their career or study decisions.
