The annual World Press Photo Contest recognises and celebrates the best photojournalism and documentary photography produced over the last year. Enter your work for free and you could win 1,000 euros as a regional winner and a further 5,000 euros as an overall winner, have your work exhibited to a global audience, and much more.

The World Press Photo Contest 2023 works with 6 world regions - Africa, Asia, Europe, North and Central America, South America, and South East Asia and Oceania. Entries will be judged in the region in which they were taken, for example, a single photograph taken in Canada would be entered in North and Central America in the singles category.

Each region has four categories based on format: Singles, Stories, Long-Term Projects and Open Format.
These categories accommodate entries that witness or document news moments, events and/or aftermaths, as well as social, political and environmental issues or solutions.

These format-based categories cover all the thematic categories from previous competitions - such as general news, topical news, contemporary themes, environment, nature, sport, portraits - so entries on a wide range of themes can be submitted to the appropriate format-based category.
