The annual Capacity Building and Institutional Training Grants Programme (CAPACITY) contributes to the development of capacities to tackle climate change in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) through the development of local professional skills.

Those who benefit from the scholarship will be recruited to work and be trained at the UNFCCC secretariat in Bonn for a period of one year (renewable for up to two years). The Programme's target group is mid-career professionals already employed by a government and who are nationals of a SIDS or LDC party and working in that party.

Scholarships are awarded to individuals, but the development/training offered must take place within the context of the organisation for which the candidate works.

Thanks to funding from the Government of Italy, the UNFCCC secretariat is launching a new round of the CAPACITY Scholarship Programme. The vacancy announcements have been published in the Scholarships from the UNFCCC recruitment page.
