With great enthusiasm, we announce the opening of applications for the Thrive Seed Grant for Food Systems InitiativesThis is an innovative program designed to catalyze positive transformations in food systems in Cape Verde. This initiative represents a crucial milestone in supporting projects that promote sustainability, resilience, and inclusion throughout the archipelago's food value chain. We recognize the unique challenges Cape Verde faces, from water scarcity and low soil fertility to import dependence, and it is with this purpose in mind that we seek to invest in creative and effective local solutions.
The Thrive Seed Grant aims to fund promising ideas that address critical issues such as sustainable agriculture adapted to island conditions, reducing food waste, valuing local and traditional products, promoting healthier and more nutritious diets, and strengthening short supply chains. We firmly believe that shared innovation and targeted support are fundamental to building a safer and fairer food future for all Cape Verdeans. Applications are open to local organizations, cooperatives, social entrepreneurs, and community groups that demonstrate a clear commitment to improving food systems.
The selected proposals will receive not only funding, but also access to specialized mentoring, capacity-building opportunities, and a platform for knowledge sharing and networking. The goal is to create a vibrant food innovation ecosystem in Cape Verde, where best practices can be replicated and scaled. We encourage applicants to submit projects that are scalable, replicable, and have a measurable long-term impact, contributing significantly to food self-sufficiency and the socio-economic development of island communities.
We believe that, through this strategic investment, we can unlock immense potential and foster a more promising food future for Cape Verde. Your vision and dedication are essential to this transformative journey.
Applications close on June 1, 2026.
