The Ocean Professionals (Global)We are actively seeking visionary and talented individuals to shape the future of ocean management and conservation. It is with great enthusiasm that we present the “Ocean Futures Fellowship 2026 – Ocean Professionals (Global)”, an unprecedented initiative designed to empower the next generation of leaders in ocean science, policy, conservation, and sustainable maritime industries. This fellowship aims to attract and support emerging and established professionals from around the world, including, in particular, talent from Cape Verde, an archipelago with an intrinsic and vital connection to marine ecosystems.

We firmly believe that the richness of our oceans is fundamental to global prosperity and the health of our planet. However, the challenges posed by climate change, overfishing, pollution, and biodiversity loss demand innovative and collaborative solutions. The Ocean Futures Fellowship offers a unique platform for recipients to deepen their knowledge, develop practical skills, and establish crucial networks with global experts and decision-makers. The program will encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration on projects addressing pressing issues such as a sustainable blue economy, adaptive marine resource management, coastal habitat restoration, and the development of clean marine technologies.

Cape Verde, with its extensive coastline and direct dependence on the ocean for its economy and livelihoods, has immense potential to lead by example in many of these areas. The scholarship specifically seeks to encourage applications that demonstrate a commitment to the practical application of acquired knowledge for the benefit of local communities and Cape Verde's marine heritage. We look forward to seeing how Cape Verde's innovators and entrepreneurs will leverage this opportunity to foster a more resilient and prosperous oceanic future, both nationally and internationally.

The “Ocean Futures Fellowship 2026” scholarship program is not just funding; it’s an investment in the future. It will offer fellows access to cutting-edge resources, mentorship from world-renowned experts, applied research opportunities, and the chance to present their work at international forums. We would like to encourage all ocean professionals in Cape Verde whose ambitions align with the mission of protecting and sustainably managing our precious marine resources to explore this transformative opportunity.

Applications for the “Ocean Futures Fellowship 2026” are open until May 3, 2026.
