The United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking (UNVTF) has launched the Fifth Notice.

This Call for Proposals takes into account the importance of taking advantage of all available resources to implement activities aimed at fulfilling the objectives of this Grants programme.

Objectives

The main objectives of this subsidy programme are:

  • Providing direct assistance and protection to vulnerable victims of human trafficking;
  • To improve health and well-being, facilitate social integration and prevent re-trafficking among vulnerable victims of human trafficking.

Financing Information

  • Proposals with budgets ranging from USD 5,000 to USD 20,000 will be considered for the award.
  • All the activities financed by this sub-programme must be implemented within 9 months.

Thematic focus and priority issues

This call for proposals seeks to provide funding support to non-profit organisations working in the field of human trafficking whose projects aim to provide immediate and essential direct assistance to vulnerable victims of human trafficking.

  • Priority will be given to projects that target the following population:
    • Women and girls.
  • Projects aimed at men and boys, as well as people of non-binary genders, will also be considered.
  • Priority will be given to projects that target people identified in the following situations:
    • People identified among large movements of refugees and/or migrants, including internally displaced persons.
    • People identified in or fleeing from areas where armed conflicts are taking place or have recently taken place; or when there is instability caused by a breakdown in law and order.
  • Priority will be given to projects aimed at the following forms of exploitation:
    • Sexual exploitation;
    • Forced labour;
    • Organ removal;
    • Forced begging;
    • Forced criminal activity;
    • Forced marriage;
    • Production of pornographic material;
    • Recruitment of children into armed groups.
  • The indicative activities that will be prioritised include:
    • Medical assistance;
    • Material assistance in the form of food, clothing, etc;
    • Immediate, safe and short-term shelter.

Location

  • This is a global call. Projects to be implemented in the countries of origin, transit and destination will be considered.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for a scholarship, candidates must:

  • Be a non-profit organisation (CSO, including NGOs, CBOs) registered under the relevant laws of the country where it is registered and in the country where it will be implementing the proposed project;
  • They are registered until 31 January 2020;
  • To be directly responsible for the development and management of the project, i.e. not to act as an intermediary;
  • Demonstrate previous experience of at least one (1) year implementing activities in the area of direct assistance to victims of trafficking in persons in line with the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime or in the provision of other services to vulnerable populations, including IDPs and forcibly displaced persons;
  • Have a bank account in the name of the organisation;
  • Take all appropriate measures to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Eligibility

Only projects aimed at achieving the objectives, focusing on the priority issues and meeting all the other requirements described above, are eligible for funding under this Call for Proposals.

  • Projects must be time-bound (have discernible start and end dates) and have a specific, finite objective that does not require further funding to sustain results over time. The costs, activities and beneficiaries of the proposed project must be distinguished from those relating to the applicant's other operations.
